I was born in Grand Rapids and graduated from Grandville High School in 1977. I attended Davenport College, and then pursued a career in aviation along with having my own custom area rug business. My father Roger, one of the original founders of Centennial Securities was forward thinking and wanted a succession plan for his valued clients when he retired. He had an excellent relationship with his clients that in many cases spanned two or three generations. So, in 1993 I was brought on board to begin my career as a financial consultant at Centennial.

It has been a wonderful fit for me. My years of experience working with people and having my own business, gave me a unique advantage that most advisors new to the business would be lacking.  I enjoyed working along side of my father for 15 years, gaining wisdom and knowledge from his 49 years as a financial consultant.

My investment philosophy is to make sure that every client understands what they expect from their portfolio, as well as what each individuals risk tolerance and goals are. I firmly believe in taking care of the client and picking investments that are best for them and not for the advisor, keeping fees and expenses at a reasonable level. I am constantly reviewing each client’s positions and making sure we are still on track and that they are still meeting their objectives. I also enjoy working with people who are planning to retire, and help them to plan on current and future income needs. I am a very big believer in knowing what you own and why you own it. I also like to use individual bonds and stocks to keep costs low, as well as ETF’s and low cost mutual funds. Getting to know my clients is very important to me that is why I go and personally visit each of them at their home whenever possible.

I am married to my beautiful wife Chris, we have seven children between us and enjoy spending time with them.  We also enjoy traveling and heading up North to our cabin on Drummond Island.  I am also involved in aviation, flying throughout the midwest for a local company.
